[Music] okay welcome back to sh sales canada tips we want to talk about measuring we always get asked about how do i measure can i measure from the ground we are making the sales that precise we need you to measure from the holes in your posts to the other hole in your post not from the ground so you can see here im measuring from the high point to the lower connection hole in this post if you already have your hardware in thats fine just indicate that on your order form but be sure that youre measuring from either post face to post face or whole where youre going to connect to or eye to eye where your hardware is okay so its important that youre not measuring just from the ground saying heres the measurement because this measurement diagonally is longer than straight across between the posts so thats why those measurements are essential measuring from post face to post face or eye to eye you can take that off on your order form its essential that you do that if in doubt ask

How do you determine shade height? The height of a table lamp shade should be approximately the height of the base (to bottom of socket) x 60% up to 70%. The height of a floor lamp shade should be approximately the height of the base x 30% to 40%. Measure shade height along the slant.
To choose the right lamp shade width, measure your lamp base and multiply by two. For a round base, measure straight across; measure diagonally for a square base. The widest part of your shade should be at least a half-inch wider than the widest part of your base on each side.
Although a lamp shade is usually seen as a decorative element, its main purpose is to diffuse or redirect the light from the bulb for maximum effectiveness and protect your eyes from the bulb's glare. With no shade at all, a bare bulb's light goes out equally in all directions.
Types of Lamp Shade Fitters Fitters are not interchangeable, so be sure to use a shade with the correct fitter for your lamp. There are the three common fitters: Spider, Clip-On, and Uno. The spider lamp shade is the most common type of fitter for table and floor lamp shades.
Inside: Step 1: Measure the inside width at the top. ... Step 2: Measure the height at 3 places: left side, middle and right side. ... Step 3: Measure the depth at 3 places: left side, middle and right side. ... Note: Outdoor shade fabrics may be at least 1 3/8" narrower than your ordering width to allow for the mounting brackets.
Lamp shades are sized by measuring cross the diameter at the bottom of the shade - so if the shade diameter measures 25cm across the bottom, then it is known as a 25cm shade.
For the 12 inch example a 10 inch shade is recommended. If you have a large diameter base then a 14 inch shade would be the one to go for. Any width of base in between, then a shade the same height as the measurement taken is required, in this case 12 inch.
All lamp shades are categorized as mini, small, medium, large or extra-large. These sizes are determined by a lampshade's bottom diameter or width. Mini lamp shades: bottom diameter or width is 6 inches or less. Small lamp shades: bottom diameter or width of 6 to 9 inches.
1) Measure the width inside the window opening at the top, middle and bottom. Take the narrowest of the three width measurements, and round down to the nearest 1/8". 2) Measure the height inside the window opening from the top of the window opening to the window sill three times.
The shade should be twice as wide as the lamp base, and one third of the total height of the lamp. So for a 6-inch lamp base, the shade should be at least 12 inches wide. And if the total height of the lamp (including the bulb and harp) is 24 inches, the shade should be 8 inches tall.
