South Sideline: Shaded on the Dolphins home side of the field. Upper deck: Shaded in seats directly under the canopy roof.
Thus most experienced tennis spectators consider sections 60-67, sections 1-9, and sections 26-45, the best sections in Arthur Ashe Stadium. TickPick Tip: When thinking about which tickets you want to buy, think about what your favorite vantage point is when you are watching tennis on TV.
To avoid the sun, choose seats in sections 126-136, 101-103, 329-340, or 301-303. For courtside seating, consider sections 1-7 or 60-67. Be aware that sections 47-58 are on the west side but will still be sunny at the start of the day. These courtside seats will gradually receive shade as the afternoon progresses.
ESPNs Arash Markazi has an interesting take on seating at Arthur Ashe Stadium following his experience at the 2017 U.S. Open. Markazi sat in section 322, Row 2, Seat 16, and it was definitely not his best choice. He claims the view is too high to even engage with what is happening on the court below.
By noon, the sun is high over the south stands. Throughout the afternoon, the sun moves along the west side of the stadium, setting near the northwest corner. This orientation makes the west and south sides of the stadium the shade sides and the north and east sides of the stadium the sunny sides.
Your best bet for shade is in sections 116-128 in the southwest corner of the stadium, with seats farther from the court receiving shade before those closer to the court.
Entry and re-entry rules: Any day session stadium reserved ticket for Ashe, Armstrong, or Grandstand gives you the same exact privileges as a Grounds Pass: You can enter the grounds as early as 9:30am (or 11am on Finals weekend) and stay on the grounds as late into the evening as you want.
Seats in the Sun and Shade at Early Afternoon Louis Armstrong Stadium Matches. After the first match, focus on the south baseline and west sideline for shade. For sun avoidance, choose sections 1-7 for reserved seats or 101-109 for general admission.
