here we have an uncompressed image and it uses 46 megabytes of space and over here we have the same image as a compressed jpeg and it uses 4.1 megabytes can you see the difference what about when we zoom in so that we can see the individual pixels well in this video weamp;#39;re going to take a deep dive into the jpeg algorithm and see how images can be compressed to just a tenth of their uncompressed file size all while keeping the same image resolution and a very high quality appearance to begin letamp;#39;s take a quick 26 seconds to understand the importance of this algorithm why weamp;#39;re making this video and truthfully why you should stick around first most digital images from your phone or a camera are saved using the jpeg format second i spent a couple hours on the internet recording which images were jpeg versus other formats and found that 86 of the images were jpegs so essentially this algorithm is everywhere third video compression algorithms such as h.264 well that

Color depth or colour depth (see spelling differences), also known as bit depth, is either the number of bits used to indicate the color of a single pixel, or the number of bits used for each color component of a single pixel. When referring to a pixel, the concept can be defined as bits per pixel (bpp).
When it comes to digital photos and videos, 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit colour depths differ in how finely the light captured by the image sensor is distinguished when it is recorded. 8-bit colour distinguishes 256 different tones, 10-bit colour distinguishes 1024 tones, and 12-bit colour distinguishes 4096 tones.
You could take photos in the highest quality, but if you compress them to JPEG files with a lower bit depth, you will likely have color banding showing up. When you compress an image to reduce its size, some colors are removed from the image and affect the gradual transition of color.
In an age of 4K HDR you really want to have a 10-bit color depth display to get the benefit of modern graphics and content. Games for contemporary PCs and modern consoles all render in 10-bit color as a minimum, and HDR is becoming universal.
JPEG images are always recorded with 8-bit depth. This means the files can record 256 (28) levels of red, green and blue. Cameras that support raw file capture offer higher bit depths, usually ranging from 12 to16 bits.
The encoding process consists of several steps: The representation of the colors in the image is converted from RGB to YCBCR, consisting of one luma component (Y), representing brightness, and two chroma components, (CB and CR), representing color.
Recolor a picture Click the picture and the Format Picture pane appears. On the Format Picture pane, click . Click Picture Color to expand it. Under Recolor, click any of the available presets. If you want to switch back to the original picture color, click Reset.
While 36 bits per pixel is technically the best option, there is currently no gaming or movie content that is more than 24 bits per pixel. This means that setting it to this option will have no effect on anything you play on Xbox One.
