Stippling is the creation of a pattern simulating varying degrees of solidity or shading by using small dots.
pointillism, in painting, the practice of applying small strokes or dots of color to a surface so that from a distance they visually blend together. The technique is associated with its inventor, Georges Seurat, in such works as A Sunday on La Grande Jatte1884 (1884/86) and Bathers at Asnires (1884).
The 4 shading techniques are blending, hatching, stippling, scumbling. There are also subcategories of each, including cross-hatching, contour hatching, pointillism. Each shading technique can be used in a variety of ways and they can be mixed with each other creatively.
Stippling is an art technique that uses many small dots to create shading and show valuehow light or dark something is. The ink dots placed closer together create dark areas and represent the lows of the specimen. The areas with fewer dots will appear lighter and represent the highs of the specimen.
Stippling is an art technique where several small dots, in one color, are used to create an image, landscape, or picture.
Pointillism or stippling are both names for dot shading, although pointillism is more often used in terms of colour, where stippling is used for pencil or ink drawings. Half-tone is the printed version used for printing comic books and such.
Stippling is a drawing technique in which areas of light and shadow are created using nothing but dots. The basic idea is simple: For darker areas, you apply a greater number of dots and keep them close together. Then for progressively lighter areas, use fewer dots and space them farther apart.
