The responsibility includes ordering supplies, tracking usage, and ensuring that stock levels are adequate to meet the restaurants needs.
What Is Considered Inventory in a Food and Beverage Service? Inventory for the food and beverage industry includes all the physical items needed to provide service to your customers, including food, ingredient and other items like pots and pans and employee uniforms.
Most restaurants do inventory check-ins 1 - 2 times per week, but it makes sense to take count of your inventory every time youre restocking, to make sure that everything is fresh and within its expiration dates.
The key point here is to realize that the amount of money we spend on food invoices in any given month does not tell us how much money weve spent on the food we used that month. This is where doing a monthly inventory comes in.
As a baseline, I believe a proper inventory cycle count should be done every 12-13 weeks, roughly every quarter. This will help to catch problems before they develop into more docHub issues. The minimum number of counts you should do is one per year, but only if you have a small amount of inventory to manage.
Truly effective inventory management happens every week, preferably on the same day each week, and always before your inventory orders are placed. This will help ensure accurate, consistent counts that managers can use to better align their inventory orders with their actual needs.
