Welcome to the running the WRF model talk. Before proceeding, make sure you have already gone through the talk on running the WRF pre-processing system to learn how to prepare data for a model run using real atmospheric data. It may be useful to download the WRF model code and follow along. The WRF model code consists of two main programs: one for producing initial and boundary conditions (initialization program) and the other for carrying out time integration (WRF model itself). For real atmosphere runs, first run the WPS programs to prepare the domain and meteorological data, followed by running the WRF program. Alternatively, idealized initial conditions can be used for running the model.
