hey so im going to pick up from where i left off from a video i made about a year ago which is the replicating natural light with flash video where i replicated soft sunlight in my home studio space and i think im going to continue with this theme but instead of creating a shoot every single time ill just explore in some videos the concept and then present some photos that ive already shot and show how they can relate to each other and hopefully in doing this this can help you with some inspiration and even some ideas for your next shoot [Music] all right so in this video were going to take a look at a form of light which gives almost any photo or frame docHub attention and im talking about looking into the light let me show you what i mean perhaps one of the most practical steps we can take when assessing the direction of a light source is to face directly towards the light source itself so for example take a look at these shots and notice what they all have in common [Mus

Light from in front, not behind Webcams automatically record and adjust to the brightest source of light. And if that light is behind you, youre no longer the focus. Avoid being backlit by making sure youre facing toward, not away from, a window or another light source.
A very basic, but effective video lighting setup involves positioning not just one, but two lights pointed toward your face behind, or parallel with your camera. Instead of putting them directly in line with your face; however, for maximum effect you can place them to either side, and angle them in toward you.
The way a scene is lit dictates so much to the audience, the job of lighting in video production is to communicate the mood, the atmosphere, and to help in telling a story. If you see a film that is poorly lit, it doesnt matter how good the story is; lighting is vital in showing the audience a narrative.
Lighting is used not only to create a well exposed image, it is also used to create tone and mood. Lighting alone is enough to convey emotion in a scene, and as filmmakers it is one of our most powerful tools.
Make sure your face is lit evenly and doesnt have unwanted shadows. You may have to adjust the position or location of your light sources to do this. For a low-budget solution, try shooting with a window behind your camera and the light shining on your face. Using natural light is a great option if its available.
1. Place your main and strongest source of light, called a key light, off to one side of the actor to create a slight shadow on the opposite side of their face. 2. Add a second light, called a fill light, on the opposite side of the actor to soften any harsh shadows created by the key light.
Lighting is one of the most critical aspects of creating a video because it allows you to set the mood for the video. Poor lighting can make a somber situation seem too light, or it can make a comedic situation seem more serious than intended.
Key light. The key light is the main light source. It shines directly on the subject, usually from the front right right or front left. Fill light. The fill light is your secondary light source. Back light. The back light (or rim light) is the background light source.
Place the light just two feet away from your face. The video should look brightest and clearest from this distance, but you might want to play with it a bit to get the effect youre looking for.
