In conclusion, when it comes to signing legal documents, it is important to choose the right color ink. It is recommended that you use either black or blue ink for legal documents as these colors are the most accepted and will ensure your document remains valid.
You and the two witnesses must all stay together for the following steps 2, 3 and 4. You must all write using blue or black ink (including ballpoint), but not pencil.
The requirements for a will to be valid in Canada are: It must be written in a physical form. You must be over the age of majority and of sound mind. When making your will, youll need two witnesses to sign off on it. Your witnesses can be any adult who is not named in your will.
There is no legal requirement to use any particular color of ink, a document signed in crayon or pencil has the exact same legal standing. Some institutions prefer blue ink because it stands out from black print and makes a BW photocopy obvious.
The short answer is: IT MATTERS NOT. You may sign your will in either color legally. As the document is usually printed in black ink, your signature could be in blue ink to have your signature standout.
Blue ink is preferred because when black ink is used, someone at the bank or credit card company may not be able to tell if they are looking at a photocopy of a signature or a signature originally inked, says Wong. CDE, a court-certified and court-qualified forensic expert.
