Because it would appear faint or non-existent on a photocopy, red pens were considered taboo for signing or endorsing checks, says Wong. Today, scanners that read documents use a red laser light, Wong explains. When the red laser light scans the document, it turns the entire document a red color.
For writing that is purely for ones own personal use, the choice of ink color is irrelevant, since no one else but the writer will be expected to read it. The writer is free to use whatever color suites his or her fancy and their choice is no one elses business.
Most commonly, either blue or black ink is used for signing documents. While both are acceptable, many people consider blue the optimal choice. The reasoning behind this is that the color will stand out among the walls of black text on the document while still being dark enough to read.
Ultimately, it is up to the signer to decide which color ink to use when signing a legal document. If you are unsure of which color to use, err on the side of caution and go with black ink. This will ensure that your signature will be legally binding and will not be questioned in court.
Financial paperwork (e.g., credit card applications) and some other types of legal documents (such as those requiring a signature) usually require using a blue ink pen. If you were to use any other kind of ink, especially black, it would be difficult to determine whether the documents are original or photocopied.
There is no generic law that documents need to be signed in a particular color. However, local courts may dictate an ink color choiceusually black. In general, the two ink colors preferred are blue or black.
You shouldnt just use the first pen that you find when it comes to signing professional or legal documents. Its vital that you consider professional colors when it comes to filling out any professional forms. You dont want to use red or purple or green. To be safe, you are better off using blue or black ink.
No, Specific Ink Colors are not Required That is not correct. If the purple will not photocopy well, the other party might reasonably ask for a color that will. But a signature is normally only evidence of agreement to the provisions, and it is the agreement that is legally important.
