As you scan the page, one part leaps out: RSVP, the abbreviation of the French phrase Repondez, sil vous plat. It translates to Respond, if you please or, better still, Respond please. When you tear open the invitation and start reading, you need to pay close attention to the RSVP section.
A good rule of thumb that many wedding professionals agree on is 20%, says Nowack. When Ive attended weddings, Ive seen this to be true. If a group of eight to 10 of my friends are invited to a wedding, typically a couple of them have to pass.
The letter M is intended to be helpful although in practice we must admit its rather confusing. The letter M is simply the beginning of the persons title Mr., Miss, Mrs. and Ms. which would then be followed by the persons name.
THE M LINE - The M line on the response card is the place where guests will write in their names. The M itself is meant to designate the first letter of the formal salutation (Mr., Mrs., Miss or Ms.). It is most traditional to use the M line, though couples may opt to use the langauge, Name(s) instead.
That M stands for the first letter of the guests title, like Mr., Mrs., Ms. or Miss. The guest writes their full name, along with the names of anyone else who has been invited, on the line.
Whether wedding invitation cards should have pictures largely depends on personal preference and the overall theme of the wedding. Including pictures on wedding invitations can add a personal touch and allow guests to see the couple, making the invitation more memorable.
If you dont want to have a strong dose of colour in your main invitation card, then you can keep this neutral and introduce your wedding colour in your insert cards such as the RSVP card, the wishing well card or the details card. This is also a great opportunity to showcase a secondary colour if you have one.
On these cards, if there is an M preceding a blank space, your social title (Mrs./Mr./Ms./Mx.) goes first followed by your full name. Wiese Alexander advises writing your name exactly as it was written on the envelope. This means if the envelope is addressed to Mr.
