Plastisol Ink Plastisol ink is the most commonly used ink in the industry, given its very opaque nature, color saturation, durability, ability to print in high detail, and its affordability. Traditional plastisol can be color matched for color accuracy, and it works on almost any garment type.
Discharge inks, plastisol inks, and water-based inks are some of the most commonly used screenprinting inks. These inks have different properties suitable for different materials and print patterns. Working with these inks also require distinct skill sets and expertise.
Screen print is probably the decoration technique that is used the most when printing T-shirts, sweaters, etc. Unlike flex, all items must have an identical print and up to 8 uniform colors can be printed. This means 2 different shades of blue count as 2 colors.
Photo emulsion is light sensitive so we can use light to transfer an image to the screen. The image can be anything including photographs, drawings, computer-printed text or illustrations anything. The image, however, has to be black and white.
Plastisol ink is one of the most commonly used screen printing ink type and has been around for decades. It has been the primary ink until fairly recently as more and more companies have been converting. Plastisol is a much more user friendly ink, as it is more accurate for matching Pantone colors.
So the Screen inks are the thickest, and that allows to push the paint or ink through the screen and allows it to have sharp edges. If you print with a paint, you will find the edges are usually ill-defined or even bleed. Also, generally screen inks have additives that keep them from drying as fast.
