Shade is a hue or mixture of pure colors to which only black is added. It contains no white or gray. Shade darkens the color, but the hue remains the same. When mixing a shade, begin with the color itself then add black one drop at a time.
Shadows are influenced by the color of the environment, so the shadow is a warm color, not just black. Theres also some reflected light from the blue sky that influences the shadow side.
When lights of various colours strike in the same place, preferably on a surface that is white in colour, the light reflecting from that place is the sum of the lights that strike upon it. Therefore, we see different coloured shadows on the white surface with various colour combinations.
The shadows that we usually see are black in colour since the space blocks the light. Since the light is blocked, light cannot docHub the particular area, and hence it appears dark. In reality, all shadows are not black in colour. This happens when light bounces around the obstruction of other objects.
All colors are shadows because all colors result from light being stopped by objects. For instance, grass is green because it darkens most light except green. Although grass reflects some red light, this relative deficiency of red light is what counts. Black is the maximal darkener.
On a sunny day, a cast shadow will typically appear blue because it gets blue light from the sky. Elements hit by direct sunlight will have a warm cast, and elements in shadow will appear bluer.
In general then, shade refers to the sum of all shade points of an object or to that portion of an objects surface that is turned away from the source of light, and shadow refers to the sum of all shadow points or to that portion of an objects surface that is darkened by the interposition of another object or a part
When the three coloured light bulbs all shine on the same surface, we see all the wavelengths from red through to purple, which we perceive as white. With these three coloured lights you can make shadows of seven different colours: blue, red, green, black, cyan (blue-green), magenta (pink), and yellow.
