To create a header or footer Click Insert. Header/Footer. Enable one of the following options: Header A. Header B. Footer A. Footer B. If you want to align the header or footer with the document margins, enable the Align with document margins check box. Click Create.
On pages where you dont want the headers and footers to print (such as the title page, first page of a letter, and so on), you can suppress the header and footer by selecting it in the Suppress dialog box. You can also use Delay Codes to postpone the effect of a formatting code.
Inserting page numbers into headers and footers On the Header/Footer property bar, you can click the Page Numbering button (which looks like a piece of paper with #1 on it) to open a list box of numbering types (see Figure 5). Select the type of page number you want to insert.
Click on Format, Page, Suppress. Enable (tick) the Page numbering check box, and click OK. The Suppress feature works only with normal page numbering (see here for more).
On the Layout tab, under View, click Page Layout. On the Layout tab, under Page Setup, click Header Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers by going to the Header or Footer pop-up menu, and clicking the header or footer that you want.
On the View menu, point to Master, and then click Handout Master. On the Home tab, under Insert, click Text, and then click Header and Footer. On the Notes and Handouts tab, select Header, and then type the text you want. On the Notes and Handouts tab, select Footer, and then type the text you want.
