Delicate fabrics such as Silk and semi-synthetic materials like Rayon can be more challenging to screen print on compared to polyester and cotton fabrics. This is because they are often more delicate, and its easier for them to be damaged by the screen printing process.
Sans serif typefaces are most popular for screen prints because they are clean and easy to read and have a contemporary feel. However, all of the different kinds of typefaces can be used successfully to strike the tone youre looking for in your design.
The type of garments youre printing on, the inks youre using, etc. will determine which mesh count you should use. Designs with lots of small, fine detail may require screens with mesh counts of 180-200.
LIMITS OF THE SILK-SCREEN TRANSFER Some thinness are also difficult to obtain because of the screen printing process: texts or lines below 0.5 Pt (0.2 mm) will not be readable. The ready-to-use letters are ideal for sports jerseys or one-off events.
Minimum Font Line Size For the best results check your fonts are no smaller than 8pt, and lines no thinner than 1 pt. Inverse art and negative space text need even larger sizes to print well.
There are two main ways that you can expose your images using sunlight: You can place a large book or similarly shaped support underneath the screen, and on top of the screen place your film with your design front face down. Then, place a large piece of glass or transparent plexiglass on top of the film.
Other common examples of synthetic fabrics to avoid for screen printing include acrylic, rayon, and acetate. Generally, these fabrics are heat-sensitive and/or tend to easily shrink.
ing to professional print service Quality Logo Products and Same Day Printing, the smallest font size used for promotional or printed items is 6pt which is equivalent to 0.6mm+. If the fonts any smaller, you might need to zoom in to read the print, the service says.
