Add a drop shadow to text On the Shape Format tab, select Text Effects Shadow and then pick the shadow you want. When you rest your pointer on one of the shadow effects, it appears as a preview on the text. Tip: To customize the shadow, click Shadow Options, at the bottom of the shadow choices.
Select the text that you want to add an effect to. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Text Effect. Click the effect that you want. For more choices, point to Outline, Shadow, Reflection, or Glow, and then click the effect that you want to add.
Shadow fonts usually have letters that are raised above the page and a silhouette or drop-shadow is behind them. Drop shadow letters can make text easier to read if there is a color behind the text.
The formatting you start with in a new blank document is determined by the Paragraph Style called Normal. If there is a shadow applied to the text it may be due to Normal having been accidentally modified. See what happens if you: Go to Format Style.
Apply shading to words or paragraphs Select the word or paragraph that you want to apply shading to. On the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the arrow next to Shading. Under Theme Colors, click the color that you want to use to shade your selection.
The top options in the Text Effects menu have some pre-created styles to choose from. The Text Effects menu also has the options Outline, Shadow, Reflection, and Glow.
