Best Font for Professional Documents Business proposals, reports, and professional letters can use Serif fonts like Times New Roman and Garamond. Some users who want to be a bit different from the prime fonts for professional documents choose Baskerville.
It is essential that your cover letter fits on one page, so opt for a size 10 or 11 font if its spilling onto a second page. If you have a lot of room to spare, choose a size 12 font.
All papers should also be written with 12-point font. (Note: Times New Roman and Cambria are the default fonts for Microsoft Word, and 12-point font is also the default setting for font size).
When the format is not specified for the LOI, assume 11-12 point font (Times New Roman) and 1 margins, single spaced. The LOI is, in many ways, a docHubly condensed full proposal.
Another important factor in the readability of a letter is the font. The generally accepted font is Times New Roman, size 12, although other fonts such as Arial may be used.
A good rule of thumb to remember: dont decide on a font size until youve chosen the specific font youll use for your resume. This is because some fonts like Calibri, Trebuchet, and Arial Narrow take up less space than Times New Roman or Verdana.
Most courts and lawyers recommend using a 12-point font for legal documents. Thats large enough for anyone to be able to read and still small enough that you can fit plenty of information on a single page. Using an overly large font is obnoxious to read and takes up too many pages.
Use a font style that is simple, clear and commonplace, such as Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri. Font SIZES from 10-12 points are generally in the ballpark of looking appropriate. Keep in mind that different font styles in the same point size are not the same size!
