In this tutorial, we will be drawing and shading a cone shape. Start by drawing a four-inch line for the base of the cone and then a flattened circle or oval shape around it, known as an ellipse. Sketch the ellipse a few times to get the shape right before going over it darker. Erase any extra lines. The base is drawn as an ellipse because it would appear as a circle from the top view, but from our angle, it looks distorted and flattened. This perspective helps create a more realistic cone shape.
