all right going to be looking at how to build a lean-to shed well be building a lean to on both sides of this current shed here theyre going to be 11 foot wide by 30 foot long the first step ive already got completed is fastening a 2x6 board across the shed there which is where my 2x4 rafters are going to connect to and now im currently working on setting the post that will be on the outside of my shed and will hold the brace bar so to set my post i have a tape measure thats ran from the outside of the shed to the inside of my post marking at 11 foot and then i have 10 foot between each post to have a big open bay im using a post level to make sure that my posts are straight up and down plum on both sides and its the easiest way to do it hands-free and once i get it secured in the position that i want pour concrete around the base of the post to make sure its good and sturdy while my posts are setting im working on the two by six board that runs across my shed here on the back

Pergolas attached to a home (or other outdoor building) are more structurally secure than freestanding ones. They share the stability of the structure, which also provides added protection against the elements. For this reason, permitting is typically required for attached designs.
Our pergolas can cover a wide range of areas. You can have a pergola on the front of the house, in the backyard, or in any other spot where there is adequate space. No matter where it is positioned, your pergola will provide sun, light, and weather control.
Situated for Shade Your landscape designer should not just be plopping the pergola on any old spot. It should be situated to be able to provide the shade youre seeking. Pergolas are such a great way to add instant shade for that mid- to late-day enjoyment of your outdoor living area.
Outdoor Patio Shades. Consider outdoor shades when youre looking for patio shade solutions. Cover Your Patio with a Cantilever Umbrella. Need portable patio cover ideas? Pop Up a Market Umbrella. Add a Patio Umbrella to a Table. Enjoy a Pergola. Attach an Awning. Put Up Sun Sails and Canopies. Hang Outdoor Curtains.
Less Required Space Without the need for additional posts, attached pergolas allow for a higher amount of open space. Improved Energy Efficiency An attached pergola not only provides shade to your patio area but to your home as well. This shade will help keep your home cooler, improving your homes energy efficiency.
Keep those thoughts in mind when youre measuring out the space for the structure. You can customize the dimensions of your pergola to fit the shape of the front of your house. Ideally, your pergolas stylenot just its shapewill suit your home as well.
For example, pergolas that are attached to the side of the building and have a solid roof might be easily considered a carport if the pergola in question is used to shelter an automobile. One more outdoor structure type that is somewhat similar to pergola is called an arbor.
In the eyes of the council planning team a pergola is seen as a temporary structure. Therefore, it does not require planning permission, provided it is less than 2.5m in height and doesnt occupy more than 50% of the outdoor space available.
