PH levels measure acidity and alkalinity in water on a pH scale. A pH scale is numbered from 0-14; a measurement of 7 is considered neutral or balanced. A Ph level between 7.2 and 7.8 should be maintained in your hot tub.
Clearwater Test Strips are the quick and easy way to check chemical levels in any hot tub or above ground pool. The Clearwater Dip Tests are manufactured by the founders of dip testing in the USA and are the most accurate available on the market so you know youre getting an accurate reading every single time.
Dip a single test strip into about six inches of water and shake off any excess when you remove it from the pool. After about 10 to 20 seconds compare the test strip to the color legend on the back of the container to get your results.
There are three separate sections on each strip to indicate each individual level. Chlorine levels of a hot tub should be 3‑5 ppm (Parts Per Million), pH levels should be 7.2 ‑ 7.6 and Total Alkalinity levels should measure 80 ‑ 120 ppm (Parts Per Million).

Even the most basic pool and hot tub test strips measure your spas Total Alkalinity (TA) and pH levels. Others measure up to seven elements, including cyanuric acid and nitrite. An important difference to look out for is which sanitiser a test strip measures: chlorine, bromine, or both.
How to Read Chlorine Test Strips 0 PPM: Not optimal. Water with 0 PPM free chlorine will not be disinfected if new bacteria are introduced. 0.5 PPM: Optimal. A free chlorine level of 0.5 PPM ensures water will remain bacteria free, even if new bacteria are introduced. 1 PPM: Good. 2 PPM: Not optimal.
