my name is Russell Harwood and Im the chess program director at UT Brownsville this summer were having two one week sessions the camps go from eight a.m. to 11am monday through thursday we have two groups in the chess camp im teaching the newer students we divide them by rating and i work with the newer students and we work on the basics depending on you know how the what they know coming in but well start at the very beginning you know names of the pieces how they move basic strategies things like that and then we do a lot of tactics and checkmate puzzles and then we play a little bit every day usually the first couple days ill play the kids so i can help them a little bit and then you know I let them start playing each other usually by Wednesday our higher group is with one of our students woman International Master Luciana Morales Luciana is working them up working with them obviously on higher level skills advanced tactics of advanced theory basically things that will help goo
