While Barbra never made it to the set of The Nanny, its clear from one anecdote that the admiration was mutual from very early on. When we started doing The Nanny, we had no money at all, Dreschers creative partner and The Nanny co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson said in an episode of the podcast Oh, Mr.
Sheffield!, Jacobson revealed that Frans great love, Barbra Streisand, was the one guest star The Nanny always wanted but couldnt get on the show. Jacobson said, the team talked about it all the time, but the cameo didnt work out due to budget and scheduling conflicts.
The Nanny cast is like family Over the years, the cast of The Nanny have come together various times, showing fans that the bonds they created on the series were one-of-a-kind.
Chester was a pomeranian, belonging to Fran Drescher, who played C.C. Babcocks dog on The Nanny (1993), who seemed to like Nanny Fran Fine better than he did C.C.
However, Drescher drew on her experiences growing up in Queens, New York, as well as her experiences working as a nanny, to inform her portrayal of the character. While Fran Fine on The Nanny may have some similarities to Fran Drescher, the character is not based on Dreschers real life.
He is Frans father, and Sylvias husband. Mortys lack of appearance on the show is often a running gag as he is only mentioned, or simply has his back turned on the viewers. His face is finally seen in Maternal Affairs, where he visits Fran while trying to deal with Sylvia having an affair with her doctor.
Her character is bubbly, outgoing, and humorous but also caring and responsible of the kids and her job, and plays the mother figure for them. Fran frequently gets into trouble, but usually solves the problems herself through seemingly ridiculous antics or by relying on her street smarts.
