Select a cell in the column you want to sort. On the Data tab, in the Sort Filter group, click Sort. In the Sort dialog box, under Column, in the Sort by or Then by box, select the column that you want to sort by a custom list.
Select the cell you want to investigate. On the Home tab of the ribbon, in the Font group, click the arrow on the right hand side of the Fill Color button. Activate the Custom tab of the Colors dialog. Youll see the RGB values (or HSL if you prefer) of the fill color.
Below are the steps you can use to color code your data: Input your data on an Excel spreadsheet. Select the data you want to color code. Navigate to Conditional Formatting. Select the color coding option you want to use. Apply rules for the conditional formatting.
On the Page Layout tab in Excel or the Design tab in Word, click Colors, and then click Customize Colors. Click the button next to the theme color you want to change (for example, Accent 1 or Hyperlink), and then pick a color under Theme Colors.

Click Format. In the Format Cells dialog box, click the Fill tab. Select the background or pattern color that you want to use for the shaded rows, and then click OK. At this point, the color you just selected should appear in the Preview window in the New Formatting Rule dialog box.
