welcome ladies gentlemen so what i like to do is kind of show you how to um shade an inequality and basically when weamp;#39;re looking into shading for an inequality uh the most most important thing that weamp;#39;re going to be looking into is determining not only are the points on the line going to be a part of a solution but are the points above or below the line going to be a part of our solution because thatamp;#39;s what really separates a linear inequality from a linear equation itamp;#39;s not just the line but itamp;#39;s points above and below that can also make your inequality true so when looking at this the first thing we look at is the boundary line which i go over in a separate video but basically as a job and you can see that whenever my equation is greater than or less than you can see that i am going to have a dashed line that means any of the points that lie on this line are not going to be a part of the solution over here i have greater than less than or equal

Steps to Graphing Inequalities: Use a dashed line for or . Use a solid line for or . Step 2 Test a point that is not on the line to check whether it is a solution of the inequality. Step 3 If the test point is a solution, shade its region.
In a graph representing a system of inequalities, shading above means greater than while shading below means less than. In addition, we should also take the boundary of the region into account, where a solid line means equal to, while a dashed line means not equal to.
If the inequality has a symbol of greater than or equal to or greater than you shade above the line. If the inequality has a less than or equal to or less than symbol you shade below the line.
In general, you will shade below the line if the inequality is of the form y m x + b or y m x + b . Note that the inequality was divided by negative 4 which caused the inequality sign to reverse its direction. The above graph represents the graph of the inequality before the solution set region is shaded.
If the coordinates of the point satisfy the inequality, then the area above or below the line, containing the point, will be shaded. If the coordinates of the point do not satisfy the inequality, then the area above or below the line, that does not contain the test point, will be shaded.
y mx + bdashed straight lineshade below the line y mx + b dashed straight line shade above the line y mx + b solid straight line shade below the line y mx + b solid straight line shade above the line
To graph the inequality, draw a dotted line ( indicates dotted and indicates a solid line) and then shade above the line. The shading is above the line because all the values of y above the line are greater than 1 .
Solve the inequality for y. If the inequality is y , shade above the parabola. If the inequality is y
