A ZIP file is a compressed folder that contains multiple files. ZIP files allow Teacher-Authors to provide multiple files in one TPT resource. ZIP files need to be unzipped in order to extract the files inside.
To zip (compress) a file or folder Locate the file or folder that you want to zip. Press and hold (or right-click) the file or folder, select (or point to) Send to, and then select Compressed (zipped) folder. A new zipped folder with the same name is created in the same location.
To set an alternate extension: Open the WinZip Options window. Open the Integration tab of the WinZip Options window. In the Associate WinZip with group, check the box labeled Alternate extension for Zip files. Type the alternate extension you want to use in the space provided. Click OK.
