hello everybody this is tech Hut and this is another Windows basics tutorial and in this one what Im going to be doing is showing you how to use and why youd want to use zip files and windows were gonna go over how to create them how to compress them how to add files to them and Im gonna shout out a tool that adds more functionality to this so a zip file is essentially a way to compress your files down and make them easier to send now lets say I have here a group of files that I want to send together to somebody or I want to upload them to the Internet and make it easier to download all I would need to do is select all of the items that I want to be compressed into the zip folder right click on it and then youre gonna have the option to send it to a compressed zip folder so if I just clicked on that what would happen is it will begin the compressing process and it will create a folder on or in the same directory that you had those files in so here I can name this something like

If you want to zip all the files in a single location, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A to select all of them. If they are not in a single location, press and hold the left mouse button and drag over all the objects you want to select.
Right-click on the file or folder. Move your cursor over the Send to option. This will open a new submenu. Select Compressed (zipped) folder. To place multiple files into a zip folder, select all of the files while hitting the Ctrl button.
You can upload a zip file (or any other type of file) following the normal procedure for uploading a file to Google Drive. However, keep in mind that to open the zip file, you will have to download again from Drive as Drive does not unzip files.
Step 1 Open Google Drive in your web browser. Step 2 Open your File Explorer and go to the location of the zip folder. Step 3 Drag the zip folder to the Google Drive window and drop it. The zip folder uploads automatically.
To set an alternate extension: Open the WinZip Options window. Open the Integration tab of the WinZip Options window. In the Associate WinZip with group, check the box labeled Alternate extension for Zip files. Type the alternate extension you want to use in the space provided. Click OK.
In Google Drive, select the files/folders you would like to include in your compresse file. You can see the progess on the bottom right side of your browser. After its done, a compressed . zip file will be downloaded to your computer.
How to compress a PDF? Put all of the PDF documents you want to compress (or just one) into a new folder. Right click on that folder. Select the Send To option and then click Compressed (Zipped) folder. A new . ZIP file will be created that contains your document(s).
Right-click (control-click) on any of the highlighted files and select Compress Items This will generate a new . zip file named Archive. zip.
