The tutorial discusses the difference between analog and digital data, with analog signals being continuously changing while digital data is made up of discrete values within defined ranges. Computers deal with digital data, so there is a need to convert analog signals to digital. In the case of sound, this is done by taking samples of the sound wave's amplitude at regular intervals and assigning binary values to each reading. Sampling is the process of recording these values for conversion.

The most common technique used to represent a sound is to take samples (sampling) of the sound at regular intervals. The intervals in which sampling takes place (sample rate), the duration, and the sample resolution (bit depth) all impact the sound quality and size of a file processed by the computer.
Sound waves are analogue and therefore they need to be converted into binary in order for a computer to be able to process them. To do this, the computer must convert the waveform into a numerical representation so that the waveform can be stored digitally.
The numbers from 0 to 10 are thus in binary 0, 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000, 1001, and 1010.
The shorthand for a color is simply the binary numeral for the row that the color is in the table. For example, the color red in the last example was in row zero (00 in binary) and the color lime was in row 3 (11 in binary). You can see that the number of bits required for each pixel is the key quantity.
In binary code, each decimal number (0–9) is represented by a set of four binary digits, or bits. The four fundamental arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) can all be reduced to combinations of fundamental Boolean algebraic operations on binary numbers.
The simplest is to simply use the leftmost digit of the number as a special value to represent the sign of the number: 0 = positive, 1 = negative. For example, a value of positive 12 (decimal) would be written as 01100 in binary, but negative 12 (decimal) would be written as 11100.
For computer to be able to convert sound wave into binary, the sound captured by let's say a recording device like a microphone, is converted into a digital signal. The sound is converted into voltage changes. And this voltage can be sampled at a regular interval and then converted into a binary number.
Representing sound Sound needs to be converted into binary for computers to be able to process it. To do this, sound is captured - usually by a microphone - and then converted into a digital signal.
Binaural sound is stereo audio that is recorded through a dual microphone setup. The goal of recording binaural sound is to create a 3D audio effect that simulates sound as if it is being heard live. Binaural sound is best experienced by headphones. The word binaural literally means "having two ears."
