I am Renee Walters the nurse manager of the cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit at the University of Kansas hospital when you say everything you do is about improving the patient experience the patient satisfaction will also increase with that so we didnt look at saying lets impr improve our scores it was lets make this a better place for patients lets find out what they need what the staff need to provide excellent care and patient satisfaction uh increased along the way when we put our priorities where they needed to be it is not just our responsibility to provide great patient care to the patient but also to realize that their families are an integral part to them which means its an integral part to their wellness and their health and so as a nurse I want to be just as attentive and caring to them as well I dont believe theres any substitute for rounding on a unit the only way that anyone can ever know whats going on in any environment is to be present you have to be there

Basically, there are two approaches for evaluating patient satisfaction-qualitative and quantitative. The quantitative approach provides accurate methods to measure patient satisfaction.
In contrast, patient satisfaction is an outcome measure of a patients experiences of care, along with health outcomes and confidence in the health system (Fig. 1), reflecting whether or not the care provided has met the patients needs and expectations.
