Guidelines for writing appreciation letters: State what you appreciate and briefly explain why. Do not add other news or information not related to the appreciative gesture. The message of appreciation should stand alone. Be brief, warm, and sincere.
Summary: Is Thank You One Word or Two? In American English, we almost always write thank you as two words. This applies whether you use it as a verb phrase, a noun, or an adjective. However, other versions are gaining acceptance.
I wrote a thank-you note. For example, in I still need to write a thank-you note, you use a hyphen in thank-you because its modifying the noun note. A thank-you is in order. And you also use a hyphen when thank you itself is a noun, as in Sending you a hearty thank-you for the presents.
Is It Thank You, John or Thank You John? This ones easy: You always need a comma after thank you when you are addressing someone directly. That means its Thank you, John. Adding a comma here separates the statement from the name of the person being thanked.
So whats the rule? Never hyphenate this word. Its either Thank you or Thankyou. And most of the time, thank you is the correct choice.
What to Include in a Thank-You Letter Address the person appropriately. At the start of the letter, address the person with a proper salutation, such as Dear Mr. Say thank you. Give (some) specifics. Say thank you again. Sign off. Send it as soon as possible. Be positive but sincere. Personalize each letter.
12 alternative ways to say thank you so much 1 Youre the best 2 I owe you 3 Many thanks 4 My warmest thanks 5 I cant thank you enough 6 Youre a lifesaver 7 Thank you kindly 8 Much obliged
Thank You as Two Words As a verb phrase, thank you is always two words. Or to put it another way, you should always use two words for the act of thanking someone: Thank you for walking my dog.
