Formatting a book proposal A book proposal is a lot like a manuscript, but in addition to the sample chapters, it has a section that functions like a business plan, with an overview, author bio, audience analysis, comparative and competitive titles, marketing, publicity, and promotion.
Font: Your font should generally be 12 point Times New Roman. Though some agents and editors may prefer different serif or sans serif fonts like Arial or Courier New, Times New Roman with a 12 point font size is the industry standard. 2.
The structure of a book proposal is usually title, synopsis, chapter outline, sample chapter (if needed), and then the other details, such as about the author, marketing analysis, competitor analysis, etc.
