The setState() Method State can be updated in response to event handlers, server responses, or prop changes. This is done using the setState() method. The setState() method enqueues all of the updates made to the component state and instructs React to re-render the component and its children with the updated state.
The second argument that can optionally be passed to setState is a callback function which gets called immediately after the setState is completed and the components get re-rendered.
React components automatically re-render whenever there is a change in their state or props. A simple update of the state, from anywhere in the code, causes all the User Interface (UI) elements to be re-rendered automatically. However, there may be cases where the render() method depends on some other data.
setState(state) => Self. A method to invoke setState() on the root component instance similar to how you might in the definition of the component, and re-renders. This method is useful for testing your component in hard to achieve states, however should be used sparingly.
render() Calling setState() here makes it possible for a component to produce infinite loops. The render() function should be pure, meaning that it does not modify a component's state. It returns the same result each time it's invoked, and it does not directly interact with the browser.
State should be used only to store values that will be used with in the component. However, one should not generate the components and store them in state. In the below code, the state actievContent is set with a component with old item value.
Initializing state In class components, there are two ways to initialize state — in a constructor function or as a Class property. Constructor functions, introduced in ES6, is the first function called in a class when it is first instantiated — meaning when a new object is created from the class.
Yes. It calls the render() method every time we call setState only except when shouldComponentUpdate returns false .
Changing the state Object To change a value in the state object, use the this. setState() method. When a value in the state object changes, the component will re-render, meaning that the output will change ing to the new value(s).
What happens when you call setState() inside render() method? Nothing happens.
