Once you have washed the item, check it to ensure the stain is completely removed, since drying can actually set the stain. If the stain is still there, you may need to use this same method again, or you may want to move on to another solution for the removal of set stains.
If a stain has "set", it has become chemically bonded to the material that it has stained and cannot be removed without damaging the material itself. It is therefore important to avoid setting stains that one wants to remove.
Rub the stain with a bar of soap, brush the product in gently, and rinse in cold water. This is a particularly good first option when you want to remove set in stains from delicate materials. Another simple way of getting rid of a set in stain is with a paste made from vinegar and baking soda.
You should also consider the type of wood you are staining, amount of stain you're applying, and weather conditions, like humidity, temperature, and air circulation. On average, wood stain takes about 24 to 72 hours to fully dry and cure, though you can typically add a second coat after about four hours.
White vinegar can be used to remove dried-in tomato stains from synthetic clothes. First dilute a few drops of vinegar in a glass of water. Apply this to the tomato stain and rub it in carefully. Then rinse with cold water and wash the garment normally.
Heat can set stains permanently. Once you toss the item into the dryer, the stain is set for good. If the stain remains after the first wash, pre-treat and wash again before drying to try and remove the stain.
Method 1: Salt & Baking Soda For this method, all you need is salt, baking soda, and water. Just mix equal parts of salt and baking soda in a dish, and add a little bit of water to form a paste. After that, rub the paste into the stain, then launder as usual.
Mixing 1 part dish soap to 2 parts peroxide and water. Applying the mixture to the dried stains. Putting on a glove and rubbing the mixture gently onto the stain. Letting it sit overnight.
Most oil-based stains must dry for at least 12 hours before they are exposed to any moisture/rain; however, Ready Seal, if properly applied to prepped and dried wood, can get wet within a couple of hours, and it won't wash away. Oil-based stains will generally take 24-72 hours to fully cure.
The short answer is unfortunately no, not all stains can be removed, and here are three reasons why. The longer a stain is left untreated, the less likely it is to be removed.
