so the first time I shadowed a doctor in medical school I decided to go after the program director of The Residency program that I wanted to get into and it was a very competitive program and not the best idea so shadowing Dockers is a great way to figure out sort of if youre at the pre-med level if you even want to be a doctor or more importantly once youre in medical school kind of deciding what specialty you want to do its a great way to figure out what the day in the life actually looks like and talking to these people getting advice from them its just a really good thing to do because no matter how much you read about a specialty or you see it on like social media or TV or whatever you really dont know what its like until youre in the trenches and youre ready to roll so its a great opportunity regardless of whatever level youre at and I highly recommend that you do at least a couple of shadowing experiences just to figure out first of all like I said if youre an undergr

Clinical experience is distinct from shadowing, primarily because you are performing more hands-on tasks. Only Physician Assistant programs require a specific amount of clinical experience hours for your application.
Shadowing a doctor is a great way to find out if a career in medicine might be right for you. It will give you a better understanding of what a doctors typical day is like, and give you good experience to talk about in your applications and interviews for medical school.
Even though it may be very tempting to tell someone else who may know that patient about what you saw, you can not share or talk about this information with anyone (other than the person you are shadowing with at the hospital). dealing with patients information you must keep it confidential. There are no exceptions!
Use a formal letter-writing style (do not address the doctor by first name or use a greeting such as Hey). Introduce yourself, note your stage of training, ask directly to shadow that doctor, and describe what you hope to get out of the experience. You can also outline why you are interested in medicine.
