300 DPI Converter. Change DPI of an image online. Choose file. 300 DPI Converter. Change DPI of an image online. Choose file. Fast Tool. Just select DPI between predefined settings: 600, 300, 200, 150, 100, 72, or enter the necessary one, wait a few moments and save. Change DPI Online.
Is 300 DPI better than 600 DPI or does it work the other way? It depends, in fact, on what you are printing and what material is used. A higher resolution might be needed for glossy photos or images with lots of details that need to be crisp. Then 600 DPI could be a better option.
DPI: dots per inch A printer may have a resolution of “300 DPI” which means in one inch there are 300 individual dots of ink. Everything else being equal, a higher DPI image of 600 will appear more detailed than a 300 DPI image, but there's a lot more to it than that.
Higher DPI is typically better for smaller images like negatives or slides and is kind of overkill. 600 to 2400 DPI is a good size for almost every scan and future print. We know you'll be happy with those sizes.
600 DPI printing simply means that the printer compresses 600 dots horizontally as well as 600 dots vertically for every square inch of the card. This allows users to print ultra-high resolution pictures, micro-text, OCR codes, and 1D & 2D barcodes.
A 1200 DPI represents that there would be 1200 dots in a square inch of print. This is doubled by 600 dpi which denotes the higher print quality of a document.
Launch Adobe Photoshop on your laptop or computer. Navigate to File > Open and select your image. With your image open, click Image > Image Size. Here, you can adjust the Resolution, Image Size in Width and Height and Dimensions to your liking.
That same photo scanned at 600 dpi (resulting in a 2400 x 3600 pixel size image) will be about 24 Mb as an uncompressed TIF, 16 Mb as a compressed TIF and only 4 Mb as a print quality JPEG.
How to Change the DPI in Photoshop. To change an image's DPI in Photoshop, go to Image > Image Size. Uncheck Resample Image, because this setting will upscale your image, which will make it lower quality. Now, next to Resolution, type in your preferred resolution, set as Pixels/Inch.
Recommended minimum resolution for printing is 300 dpi; computer monitors generally have a display setting of 72 dpi. If we indicate that some of your images have low resolution, they may not look bad on your monitor but will likely print blurry or jagged.
