Four Hours Generally speaking, high-end wedding photographers offer this in their starter packages. They know that images are whats most important for some couples and four hours is just enough time to photograph the end of the getting ready portion, ceremony, and formals.
Wedding Photographer Timelines 11:30 a.m. - Wedding Photographer Arrives. 12 p.m. 1:00 p.m. Getting Ready Photos. 1:15 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. First Look and Couple Portraits. 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. Wedding Party Portraits. 2:45 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Family Portraits (during cocktail hour) 4:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Ceremony.
Allow 30 minutes post-ceremony for photos of you and your groom. If you did have a first look, youll still want 15-20 minutes post-ceremony for just the two of you. Save photos of very large groups (like classmates, coworkers, and large extended family groups) for the reception.
Plan on 3 minutes per group on average. For example, if you have 10 groups, schedule in a 30 minute time slot. Some couples have decided that they want a picture with all guests while others have decided that they only want pictures with select VIPs to save time. We recommend something in between.
Your typical wedding reception runs about 4-5 hoursplenty of time for cocktails, dinner, toasts and, of course, dancing! Follow this foolproof wedding reception timeline to ensure a smooth, fun-filled evening of celebration for you and your guests.
2 p.m. Photographer Arrives. 2:15 p.m. Bridesmaids Are Ready; Brides Hair and Makeup Is Complete. 2:30 p.m. Bride Gets Dressed. 2:45 p.m. Bridal Portraits. 3:10 - 3:30 p.m. Bridesmaids Photos. 3:30 p.m. First Look. 3:30 - 4:10 p.m. Portrait Photos Together. 4:10 - 5:00 p.m. Wedding Party and Family Photos.
4-6 weeks for fully-edited photos. 6-8 weeks during wedding season but less during winter months. Between 2 weeks and 2 months, with an average of 4 weeks.
We recommend allowing at least 60 minutes to photograph wedding details. This will ensure we have plenty of time to get that elegant and timeless photo of the dress, rings, shoes, bouquet, and other details of the day. Leidy likes to style the dress in a way that looks editorial.
8 Hours of Wedding Day Coverage An 8-hour package is usually enough time for an average-size wedding (about 100-150 people), and the extra 2 hours of coverage will usually allow the photographer to capture the tail end of you getting ready, some detail shots of the reception space, and the start of the dance party.
Unless you are eloping or having an intimate dinner instead of a wedding reception, we recommend at least six hours of wedding day photography coverage.
