Their muscles are still being “honed and toned” and developing. As in most circumstances the NFL is doing what is best for themselves rather than individual players. Football requires a level of physical maturity at the professional level that few players can hope to achieve out of high school.
Round 1: 1st Choice: RB, 2nd Choice: WR A quarterback is usually that player, but there is deeper reasoning as to why I recommend taking a running back in the first round. Running back is the most coveted position in fantasy football because there is usually only one primary back per team.
Ideally, this is how your first five picks play out: RB, RB, WR/TE, WR, WR. There's nothing wrong with grabbing an elite quarterback in the third, fourth or fifth rounds or paying up for a receiver in the second.
But if they go unselected — or are not satisfied with when they went — they can return for their senior year. A year later, the process repeats itself. They then go back into the draft a third time — and will each year that follows until they sign with a team that takes him.
The all-important draft order is determined at the end of the season when the win percentages of all 32 teams are ranked from best to worst. The team with worst win percentage is given the first pick in the draft while the newly minted Super Bowl champions are given the No. 32 pick.
What Position Should You Draft First? Without a doubt, you should prioritize drafting running backs in fantasy football. Each team will start two or more running backs, but not every team will have two or more good running backs.
The order is determined by record, using strength of schedule as the first tiebreaker. The first 27 picks are set as of this writing; the order for picks 28-31 will be determined by the outcome of the remainder of the postseason. The 2023 draft is scheduled to be held April 27-29 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Most fantasy players may disagree with this, but in a 12-team snake draft, I like the #1 or #12 draft slots the best. The reason for this is that you are able to get back-to-back picks throughout the draft.
Ideally, this is how your first five picks play out: RB, RB, WR/TE, WR, WR. There's nothing wrong with grabbing an elite quarterback in the third, fourth or fifth rounds or paying up for a receiver in the second.
Again, the most mathematically sound/reliable option is the 5th or 6th round, but you could make do with any decision, especially depending on the people you are drafting with.
