The photo pass is a printed credential that identifies you to security and venue staff as being approved to photograph a band for most all medium to large concerts. It might take the form of a wristband, a fabric sticker, or a laminated card.
Typically, the artists publicist or manager is the person to docHub out to. Less likely, and usually for smaller events, you may need to contact the artist directly. You can also try to contact the event promoter; however, the promoter typically provides press passes to the artists team as part of their contract.
By signing this release I understand this permission signifies that photographic or video recordings of me may be electronically displayed via the Internet or in the public educational setting. I will be consulted about the use of the photographs or video recording for any purpose other than those listed above.
To obtain a pass, photographers must fulfill certain requirements as designated by IFPO such as providing proof of their publication(s) showcasing photography work or proof that they are a professional photographer through employment notifications with proven reference.
Photo passes are the best way to gain access to larger shows and venues as a shooter. They are often given out by a publicist or a booker to specific photographers so they can cover the show, moving around the stage and the venue with ease.
Images work best when they are eye-catching, high quality, and relevant. Steer clear of generic stock photos. Instead, choose images that clearly relate to your story, as in the above examples. For visual press releases, its best to use high quality, high-resolution photos.
Start off by honing your skills at smaller shows and work your way up the chain by shooting slightly bigger shows till youre shooting the biggest shows in town. 2. You have to ask for a pass. Know all the people who hold the keys to the access you want and find out how to get in touch with them.
