A child travel consent form is required for minors authorized by their parent or legal guardian to travel domestically or internationally with someone other than their parent or guardian. For domestic travel, minors may face questions from TSA when flying alone or with a group, so it's advisable to carry proper identification and a consent letter, although it's not mandatory. For international travel, minors traveling alone or with a non-parent must present a parental consent form to leave the country, and it's recommended to have the document notarized. If traveling with only one parent, especially in cases of divorce, it's suggested to carry a consent letter.

If your child is traveling alone, with only one parent, or with a non-legal guardian, they will require a Child Travel Consent signed by both parents or legal guardians. A Child Travel Consent is sometimes called a letter of permission to travel.
The TSA Minor Travel Consent Form is used to provide permission for a minor to travel unaccompanied by a parent or legal guardian. This form is required for minors who are traveling without a parent or legal guardian on a domestic or international flight.
A consent letter is not a legal requirement in Canada, but it can simplify travel for Canadian children as it may be requested by immigration authorities when entering or leaving a foreign country or by Canadian officials or airline agents when re-entering Canada.
The letter should say I acknowledge that my son/daughter is traveling outside the country with [the name of the adult] with my permission. If one parent has sole custody of the child, a copy of the custody document can take the place of the other parents letter.
If you travel or are going to travel with a child, consider taking the following documents: If the child is traveling with only one of their custodial parents, they must have a letter of consent, preferably in English and docHubd, from the other parent or signed by both parents.
Provide the parents/guardians name, custody information, and passport details. Add contact information for the non-traveling parents/guardians. Detail the childs destination and dates of travel. If needed, you can add details for an emergency contact.
A copy of the childs birth certificate. A letter of authorization signed by the parent who is not travelling, containing their address and telephone number, in English or French if possible, and. A photocopy of the non-accompanying parents signed passport or national identity card.
