You can quickly provide your developer access by adding them as a collaborator to your website. To add a collaborator, go to your Client Area > Websites. Find the desired website and click All Site Options right next to it. Then, from the Users tab, click Add Users and select the Collaborator option.
If you add javascript, with a bit of pre-processing it is possible to securely password protect a page, no server-side validation needed. Encrypt your content with a symmetric key algo like AES (that's the pre-processing), put it online and use javascript to decrypt that content with a user provided password.
If you edit your website through an online site builder like Squarespace or Wix, you can use your site editor to password-protect areas of your website. Some services may require you to upgrade to a higher tier for password-protection. Other sites may not offer password-protection at all.
If you write your code on the server itself or upload code from your computer, you can password-protect a directory using a file called . htaccess. If you use an online site builder like Squarespace or Wix, you can set passwords for individual areas of the page in the admin panel.
If you wish to give a partial level of access to your developer, we recommend NOT giving them access to the cPanel. Make sure to PHPMyAdmin on an Addon domain, a Subdomain, or a subfolder of your website via Softaculous. After that, create a MySQL database and user.
To grant your developer full cPanel access, you should provide them your cPanel username and password. You may look up your cPanel username and password in the web hosting welcome email that we have sent you once you've signed up with us.
Go to the "Password Protection" tab. Amongst the four choices, tick check the box next to the option "Protect your preferred Blocksite options and Chrome extension page with a password." As soon as you check the box, you will be asked to enter an email ID and set a password. Click "Save" after filling the input fields.
Many times, a web developer will ask for access to your hosting account so that they may setup your website. While this is a legitimate request, you still want to be careful who you give access to and how much access you give to them.
At its core, website password protection restricts access to a specific directory in your hosting space. You get to choose this directory as well as the username and password which are used to gain access. The password protection can be applied to any directory – from a subfolder to your main domain directory.
Change settings for a specific site On your computer, open Chrome. Go to a site. To the left of the web address, click the icon you want: Lock.
