Double space: Your entire essay should be double spaced, with no single spacing anywhere and no extra spacing anywhere. There should not be extra spaces between paragraphs. Margins: ing to the MLA, your essay should have a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, left, and right.

Reset the paragraph settings On the Home tab or on the Page Layout tab, click the Paragraph Dialog Box Launcher in the Paragraph group. On the Indents and Spacing tab, change the Indent settings to the indentation settings that you want for the document. Click Tab on the Indents and Spacing tab.
To format paragraph spacing: Select the paragraph or paragraphs you want to format. On the Home tab, click the Line and Paragraph Spacing command. Click Add Space Before Paragraph or Remove Space After Paragraph from the drop-down menu. The paragraph spacing will change in the document.
