As weve already said, a two-page resume is ideal in most situations. Theyre particularly popular with professionals who are settled into their careers and looking to continue along the same path. In this situation, the reverse-chronological resume format is common and will generally fit within two pages.
Combine multiple sections A good way to do so without sacrificing relevant content is by creating separate sections for professional experience and education and then fitting all the remaining information, such as skills, achievements and interests, into a general section with a name like Additional information.
Tips for creating a one-page resume that fits all employment info. Make the content concise. Focus on the main idea of each sentence and shorten it where possible. Omit filler words. Take out words like the, to, a, an, or, and and to create more space on your document. Include notable accomplishments over tasks.
Resume Format Tips One page. Be concise. Keep font size to 10, 11, or 12 point and set margins to no less than 0.5 inch all around. Do not use the word I or other first-person pronouns. Use past tense in describing past positions and use present tense for your current position(s).
6 Pro Tips for Cutting Your Resume Down to One Page Trim Your Margins. Someone somewhere decided that default page margins should be one inch all around. Combine Sections. Create Multiuse Lines. Maximize the Line Spacing. Shorten Bullets. Understand the Reality of the Situation.
One-page resume template format Prioritize relevant information: Focus on the most recent and relevant experiences, skills, and achievements that align with the job youre applying for. Choose a clean and readable font: Opt for a professional and legible font style, keeping the font size between 10 and 12 points.
However, one widely recommended method is to include a resume header, a concise resume summary or objective, your work experience listed in reverse chronological order, followed by your educational details and relevant skills. You can also include optional resume sections if you have enough room left over.
To create an even shorter resum, you could: reduce the margins. use a smaller font. reduce the line gaps and letter spacing. look for a CV template that efficiently uses the whole page. combine your company/university name with your employment/graduation dates rather than putting them on separate lines.
