Note: Outline differs from borders! Unlike border, the outline is drawn outside the elements border, and may overlap other content. Also, the outline is NOT a part of the elements dimensions; the elements total width and height is not affected by the width of the outline.
As you can see, they both use the default text color as the outline-color , and they both have outline-style set to none . The only difference is the outline-width : When the outline is 0 , the outline-width is 0px. When the outline is none , the outline-width is medium.
The outline-offset property adds space between the outline and the edge or border of an element. The space between an element and its outline is transparent. Outlines differ from borders in three ways: An outline is a line drawn around elements, outside the border edge.
Padding - The inner space between the content and the border of your box. Border - The perimeter of the box. Borders can be invisible or they could be a thick colored line like the green one pictured above. Margin - The outer space (or lack of space) surrounding the box.
outline only makes a line around any element to make it look different from the other elements.it will not give any space. whereas margin will give space around any element. as in the above example u can see how left margin works.
Note: Outline differs from borders! Unlike border, the outline is drawn outside the elements border, and may overlap other content. Also, the outline is NOT a part of the elements dimensions; the elements total width and height is not affected by the width of the outline.
Margin is the space between the border and the next element of your design. Think of the space outside the border and between it and the other elements. This is all the margin. Margin goes around all four sides of the content and you can target and change the margin for each side.
Border - A border that goes around the padding and content. Margin - Clears an area outside the border. The margin is transparent.
