An exhibit is an item that is shown off for the public, such as a painting on display at a gallery or a historical document shown under glass at a museum.
Include a typed notation within the body of the legal document where the exhibit should be referenced. Thereafter, assign the exhibit with an identifying number or letter. For instance, this notation can state either See Exhibit A or See Exhibit 1.
Update Exhibit Numbering in MS Word Automatically On the Reference tab, click on Insert Caption. In the dialog box which appears click on New Label and add Exhibit, Ex. Click on Numbering where you can choose either standard numbering; Roman numerals, or Latin letters.
If the exhibit has a letter identifying it, it means its been used by the defense. If the exhibit has a number associated with it, it means its been used by the plaintiff.
Go to the References tab in Word and select Insert Caption. Select Exhibit from the options under Label. If Exhibit isnt an option, you can create a new label with the New Label button. Click Numbering to designate what type of numbering you want (i.e., A, B, C or 1, 2, 3).
Exhibit numbers are always in figures even at the beginning of a sentence. The word exhibit is capped in front of the number. The word number is abbreviated as No.; the plural is Nos.
The practice in the Subordinate Civil Courts is that a document, which is tendered by a party and is admitted in evidence by the court, is marked exhibit number (i) if it is admitted by the opposite party, or (ii) its formal proof has been dispensed with by the opposite party affected by it, or (iii) it is certified
