hi my name is Matthew Pearce Im a software engineer and today Id like to show you how to make a one-inch margin all around the edges of the page of a research paper Im going to show you how to do this in Microsoft Word and OpenOffice writer theyre both very popular word processing tools and theyre theyre kind of similar but not really awesome but Ill show you so well start off first with Microsoft Word what you want to do is you go to page layout go to margins is very simple you just hit normal no margins sets it up for one inch all the way around so thats pretty easy with openoffice.org our excuse me with OpenOffice writer you go to format page these click select page there and then you can go right here and you can set your margins to whatever size you want them in this case youd say one inch all the way down and that is how you do it my name is matthew pierce today we talked about how to make a one-inch margin all the way around on a research paper thanks for watching

Go to Note Settings (the first of the three options at the bottom of the sidebar). Select Adjust Editor Margin. Drag to increase or decrease the editor margin area to the exact size you need.
