Try it! Select the cell or column that contains the text you want to split. Select Data Text to Columns. In the Convert Text to Columns Wizard, select Delimited Next. Select the Delimiters for your data. Select Next. Select the Destination in your worksheet which is where you want the split data to appear.
Reverse First Last Names - Short Formula In cell B1, type a heading - Name FirstLast. Press Enter, and the named table will expand to include column B. In cell B2, type this formula: =MID(A2 A2,FIND(, ,A2)+2,LEN(A2)-1) The formula automatically fills down to the last row in the table.
To split name in Excel (first name, the middle name and the last name), there are two easy ways the text to column method and the formula method. In the text to column method, a delimiter character needs to be specified. In the formula method, the LEFT, FIND, RIGHT, and LEN functions are used to split names.
Enter the formula of =RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-FIND( ,A2,1)) in another blank cell, Cell C2 in this case. 3. Copy those two formulas down and you will see the full name column is split to the first name and last name columns as shown below.
Type =SPLIT( and select the cell containing the name. Type a comma, followed by a space in quotes, and then a closed bracket. If your name is separated by a comma, you would use a comma in quotes instead of a space. Press Enteryour name will appear separated.
How to flip first and last names in Excel using the Mid function We want to reverse this name and put out input in the D column. The syntax for this will be. =MID(A2 A2,FIND( ,A2)+1,LEN(A2)) The result we get is the name getting flipped.
To combine first and last names, use the CONCATENATE function or the ampersand () operator. Important: In Excel 2016, Excel Mobile, and Excel for the web, this function has been replaced with the CONCAT function.
