So Ive been getting a lot of questions recently about how to better control page numbering in a Pages document. Sometimes you want to skip pages or have a cover page. So lets take a look at how to get exactly the page numbers that you want. Pages has, of course, two modes. Word Processing and Page Layout. Lets start by looking at Word Processing. Im going to create a blank document and Im going to paste in some text here to fill out the document. So as you can see Ive got a bunch of pages here. Lets go back to the top and add page numbering. You can do it in either the Header or the Footer for the page. Lets do it in the Header right in the center. Ill clic

Click the File tab. Click Info to view the document properties. To add or change properties, hover your pointer over the property you want to update and enter the information. Note that for some metadata, such as Author, youll have to right-click on the property and choose Remove or Edit.
Choose Pages Settings (from the Pages menu at the top of your screen). Click General at the top of the settings window. Enter a name in the Author field, then close the settings window.
Video: Change document properties Select File Info. Select a property that starts with Add, like Add a title, Add a tag, or Add an author. Enter the information. To see more properties, select Show all properties. When youre done, select the Back arrow and Save. your changes.
Get info about a file, folder, or disk On your Mac, in a Finder window or on the desktop, select the item. Choose File Get Info, or press Command-I. An information window opens for the item.
Set your author name for comments Tap. , tap Settings, then tap Author Name. Type a name, then tap Done on the keyboard. Any comments you made previously in the document are changed to show the new name. Comments you made in other documents are also updated.
Double-click the header or footer . Select Document Info, and choose the information you want. Note: Select Document Property to select additional information, such as Title, Company, or Subject.
Click the blue, smiling face icon in your Macs Dock to open Finder. Click the file you want to change. Clicking the file one time will select that file without opening it. To edit the properties of more than one file at a time, hold down the Control key as you click each file.
This will then allow you to review the document anonymously without having to make changes later. Open Preferences and go to the Comments panel. In the Author field change this setting to any other name or Anonymous Close the preferences and begin working on the document.
