Smart Guides are on by default. To turn Smart Guides on or off, choose View Smart Guides. Use Smart Guides in the following ways: When you create an object with the pen or shape tools, use the Smart Guides to position a new objects anchor points relative to an existing object.
First of all, you have to turn them on. Go to View tab and tick Guides. When they appear, place the cursor on the guide, and it will change its appearance into a stick with 2 arrows. Now you can move the guide.
Guides Select the Guides check box on the View tab to turn them on. Click and drag the guides to position them on the slide. Click and drag an object, using the guides to position it correctly. Hold the Ctrl key and click and drag a guide to duplicate it. Clear the Guides check box to turn them off.
Select View Guides to show the horizontal and vertical center lines. Select View Gridlines to show more gridlines.
Show the rulers Go to View and select Ruler. If the vertical ruler doesnt show, make sure youre in Print Layout view. If it still doesnt show, you might need to turn the ruler on. Go to Word Preferences View (under Authoring and Proofing Tools).
Unlike gridlines, which are stationary, drawing guides can be moved around to help you arrange objects on a slide. Select the Guides check box on the View tab to turn them on. Click and drag the guides to position them on the slide. Click and drag an object, using the guides to position it correctly.
Select View Slide Master. Make the text, color, and alignment changes you want. If you want to use a predefined theme, select that first by clicking Themes on the Slide Master tab. Then proceed with selecting Colors, Fonts, Effects, and Background Styles.
To show the ruler, click View, and in the Show group, check Ruler. To hide the ruler, click View, and in the Show group, clear the Ruler box. To permanently hide the vertical ruler, click File Options Advanced, scroll down to the Display section, and clear the Show vertical ruler box.
