Hey, my name is Linda Blacker and Im a portrait photographer and self-portrait photographer. I create scenes in my work which are both digital and physical sets. And today I want to talk to you about how you can elevate your portraiture with set design. In this video I wanted to take you on a journey with me from the initial idea of my set design all the way to the photo shoot and actually bringing the set to life. Set design can be something as small as just hanging some different fabrics behind you or having a play with simple props you have around your home. Or it can be a full-blown set build. Last year I actually did a shoot where I photographed a dolls house and then in post-production put mini versions of myself as a doll in the dolls house. I like the doll theme so I wanted to do a kind of larger set where the doll escapes.
