In many ways, a nanny share contract is no different than a typical nanny contract between a caregiver and one family. You'll detail all the basics to the job – pay, hours, schedule, benefits, paid time off, etc. You'll also describe duties, goals, and expectations for both the nanny and families.
Most contracts will require that you give two weeks of notice if you plan on quitting. It gives the family a little time to find back up childcare and tie up any loose ends with you. A nanny work agreement isn't a binding contract, but it is a professional agreement between the nanny and the employer.
The best way to reduce miscommunications and have a successful nanny placement is by using a contract. Having a nanny contract is beneficial to both the nanny and the family. It is a great tool to outline the expectations of the family as well as eliminate any confusion as to what the role of the nanny will be.
For example, you need a nanny for 45 hours a week and would pay $20 an hour with time and a half for overtime. Your nanny's compensation would be $950/week ($20 x 40 regular hours + $30 x 5 OT hours). The nanny would be paid this weekly rate as long as they didn't exceed 45 hours.
During the first month of employment, one week's notice of terminating the contract should be given by you or your nanny. After this, one month's notice should usually be given, though you can negotiate this with your nanny. Make sure you put the agreed notice period in her contract.
