Produce todays date in the format month dd , yyyy . An example of a date in that format is July 4, 1976 . \today uses the counters \day , \month , and \year (see \day \month \year ).
Try adding the lipsum package to your preamble ( \usepackage{lipsum} ) and issue a \lipsum after the \maketitle . This should output a few paragraphs of blind text, which should push the title up.
The \date command declares text to be the documents date. With no \date command, the current date is used.
Try using \date{} . To make this work (in case anyone is having trouble) I had to include this in the preamble before \begin{document}, not near \maketitle itself. This just makes the date blank. It doesnt remove the vertical space where the date is supposed to be.
To put the title ``page on a page by itself place a \newpage command after the \maketitle . In the report and book styles, it is on a separate page at the beginning. LATEX will automatically number pages, but often you dont want a page number on the title page.
Output: If you want to automatically insert the date when you created the document, use the \date{\today} in the source code.
You can define a title for your document using \title{} and then create the title itself using \maketitle . You can also add other information such as the author(s) and the date, e.g. Note the use of \today to automatically insert the date you created the document.
How do I make \today display the date ing to my time zone? In your project editor window, click on the Upload button on the top of the file tree panel. Select New file, and name the file latexmkrc (without extensions). Add the following line to the file latexmkrc : $ENV{TZ}=Asia/KualaLumpur;
If you want to omit the date completely, use \date{} , which stores an empty string. The commands to store your title data can be used in the preamble. Since \maketitle does actual output, it needs to be used after \begin{document} . Usually, the title is the first thing in a document.
If you want to put a specific date then type it in the argument to \date{}. If you do not want a date then type \date{} with the argument empty. \documentclass: This is always the first line (command) in any LaTeX file.
