Charlie shows his father the ticket made of gold paper and the invitation written on it. Grandpa Joe asks his son to read the invitation aloud to everyone. The invitation from Mr. Wonka greets the finder and explains that he should come to the factory on the morning of February 1 for a tour, led by Mr.
And now, here are your instructions: the day I have chosen for the visit is the first day of the month of February. On this day, and on no other, you must come to the factory gates at ten oclock sharp in the morning.
In the novels and films, Willy Wonka is the eccentric owner of the worlds largest candy factory, making candy and chocolate. Wonka holds a contest, hiding 5 Golden Tickets within the wrappers of his chocolate bars, promising their finders a tour of his factory and a lifelong supply of his creations.
Wonka announces that he has hidden five Golden Tickets in chocolate Wonka Bars. Finders of the tickets will receive a factory tour and a lifetime supply of chocolate.
In the book, he finds the ticket on Jan 31 and the tour happens the next day on February 1 just down the street from where he lives. I think that this was part of Willy Wonkas plan.
But, its been hinted that Wonka takes place at least 25 years before Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Given the youthfulness of the character, and the fact that hes just starting out as a business owner, its safe to say that Wonka is set in the late 1930s, which would put Willy Wonka at around the age of 22.
Wonka greets the finder and explains that he should come to the factory on the morning of February 1 for a tour, led by Mr. Wonka, of all the wonders in his factory.
At that time (around the 1920s), Cadbury and Rowntrees were Englands two largest chocolate makers and they each often tried to steal trade secrets by sending spies, posing as employees, into the others factoryinspiring Dahls idea for the recipe-thieving spies (such as Wonkas rival Slugworth) depicted in the book.
